Sometimes we need to make every moment count, more so when we know a loved one has very limited time to be with us.
A couple decided to make lasting memories of their baby, who had only a few days of life in him.
After years of yearning, Lyndsay and Matthew Brentlinger became parents to cute twin babies last December.
But they were soon told their time with their newborns William and Reagan would be really short.
William had a few abnormalities. And, the left side of his heart was not functioning.
It was not really a surprise for the parents. During the middle of her pregnancy, doctors had told Lyndsay that her son would be stillborn. William not only survived his birth, but lived for 11 days. Knowing their window would be short, the Brentlinger’s contacted photographer Lindsey Brown to take a series of photos with their twins.
“They were the happiest 11 days of my life,” Matthew said in a radio interview later.
The pictures are now viral. They are now a showcase of how precious life can be, even when the days are numbered.
The photo-shoot and the sharing of beautiful memories in the form of beautifully captured images of their twins together has also been a healing tool for the Brentlinger family.
“I cried the first time I looked at them,” Lyndsay told the station. “In some of the photos, he is wide awake with his big beautiful eyes. It's something we will definitely cherish.”
Their story teaches other people about a better way to deal with news of someone dear does not have much time left in this world. There are ways to make the most of the time we have left.
The Brentlingers chose to make lasting memories with their son, and capture their last moments together.
William appears healthy and happy next to his sister, and peaceful.
